What does Going Dark Privacy sell?
We sell Google Pixel smartphones professionally flashed with GrapheneOS — a hardened, open-source, de-Googled mobile operating system. Every device is built to order, stripped of Google services and background tracking, and configured with a curated suite of privacy-respecting apps such as Signal, Threema, ProtonMail and ProtonVPN.
The result is a phone that looks and behaves like a modern smartphone, but answers to you — not to advertisers, data brokers, or the company that built the silicon.
What makes your products different from competitors?
Three things set us apart:
1. Flashed fresh to order. No pre-owned hardware, no recycled units, no shared history — every device starts clean.
2. No KYC, ever. No ID, no account, no personal profile required to purchase.
3. Wiped after service. All customer data and accounts are permanently deleted once your order is complete, so there is no database of buyers to leak, subpoena, or sell. Privacy isn't a feature we bolt on — it's the entire product.
Are your products tested or certified?
Yes. Every device is hardware-tested and verified before dispatch — we confirm a clean GrapheneOS install with verified boot, working cellular, Wi-Fi and camera, and that all pre-loaded privacy apps function correctly.
GrapheneOS itself is an established open-source project with a strong public security track record and full verified-boot support. We install it exactly as its maintainers intend and never modify the OS source, so you inherit its complete upstream security guarantees.
Why should I care about phone tracking?
Your phone is the most detailed record of your life that exists — where you go, who you speak to, what you read, what you buy, when you sleep. On a standard device, that data is continuously harvested by the OS maker, app developers and ad networks, then bought and sold by data brokers.
It can be used to profile you, shape what you see, adjust the prices you're offered, or — in the wrong hands — physically locate you. Reducing tracking isn't paranoia; it's basic operational hygiene for anyone whose movements or relationships carry weight.
Can my phone be tracked when it's off?
A genuinely powered-off phone is not transmitting and cannot be located in real time. The caveats matter, though: many modern phones keep low-power radios and "find my device" features partially alive even when the screen is dark, and a phone that is merely on standby — not fully shut down — still pings cell towers.
On a GrapheneOS device you get far tighter control over radios, sensors and background connectivity, and you can fully power down with confidence. For maximum assurance, power off completely and keep the device away from networks you don't trust.
Who can access my location data?
On a typical phone: your carrier (via cell-tower triangulation), the OS vendor, every app you've granted location permission, and by extension the ad networks and data brokers those apps feed — plus anyone who buys from or compels disclosure from them.
A de-Googled GrapheneOS device cuts the OS vendor out of that chain entirely and lets you deny or sandbox location access on a per-app basis. Your carrier can still see tower-level location while the SIM is active — which is why many of our customers pair the device with privacy-conscious connectivity habits.
Who are these phones for?
They're built for people for whom privacy is not optional — company executives and founders, high-net-worth individuals, public figures, and legal and financial professionals — alongside anyone who simply refuses to be the product.
If your communications, movements or relationships would be valuable to a competitor, a litigant, a bad actor, or an advertiser, a standard consumer phone is a liability. These devices exist to remove that liability.
Why not just use a normal phone with the privacy settings turned on?
Toggling settings on a standard phone is like locking the front door while leaving the foundation open. The operating system itself is the surveillance layer — it phones home by design, and no in-app setting truly changes that.
GrapheneOS removes the surveillance layer rather than asking it nicely to stop. You stop feeding Google and Facebook the raw material of your life — and you stop being subject to the ads, price discrimination and manipulation that data fuels.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?
All orders ship express, with shipping included in the posted price — there are no surprise fees at checkout.
Because every device is custom-built and flashed to order, please allow build time before dispatch. Your express shipping clock begins once your device has passed final testing.
Do you ship internationally?
No. We ship within Australia only and do not accept international orders or sales.
What is your returns policy?
All sales are final. Because each device is custom-built and flashed to order, we're unable to accept returns or offer refunds once an order is placed. If your device arrives with a hardware fault, contact us and we'll make it right.
Do you store my personal data?
No. We collect only what is strictly required to build and ship your order, and all customer data and accounts are permanently wiped once your service is complete. There is no standing customer database — nothing to breach, subpoena, or sell.
Is checkout secure?
Yes. Payments are processed through Stripe over an encrypted HTTPS connection — we never see or store your full card details. For customers who prefer to avoid card rails entirely, we also accept BTC and ETH.
Do you sell or share customer information?
Never. We do not sell, rent, share or trade customer information with anyone, for any reason — it's the opposite of our entire purpose. Combined with our wipe-after-service policy, there is simply no profile of you for us, or anyone else, to monetise.
Do not lose your credentials or sensitive information.
Because we hold nothing about you after service, we cannot recover your device passwords, recovery phrases, encryption keys or wallet credentials on your behalf. This is by design — it's what makes the privacy real. Treat your credentials and recovery information as irreplaceable: store them securely offline, and never rely on us to keep a backup. If they're lost, the data is gone for good.
